  • Founded in 1959 by James and Helen Doherty, the company began as a small ornamental iron shop specializing in porch, balcony, and pool railings. As demand grew in the early 1970s, so did our capabilities. The company expanded into full structural steel fabrication and erection, handling projects from supply to installation.

    Structural steel quickly became the foundation of our work, leading to our transition to Doherty Steel, Inc. in 2006. This name reflects our growth, grit, and dedication to building stronger futures.

  • Today, Doherty Steel is a family-owned, AISC-certified structural and miscellaneous steel fabricator and erector based in Paola, Kansas. We proudly serve Kansas City and the great Midwest.
